Manchester United have had an impressive start to the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils recently completed the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers playmaker Matheus Cunha.
The club’s hierarchy are now pushing to land Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo. A second offer of £62.5 million was turned down last week.
According to Manchester Evening News, talks are continuing between the clubs to find a compromise on the final fee for the Cameroonian.
United ideally want the 25-year-old in their squad before the start of pre-season at Carrington on July 7.
Man Utd poised to make third bid for Mbeumo
Mbeumo had a fantastic 2024/25 season with the Bees. He registered an impressive tally of 20 goals and eight assists in the Premier League, where he was ever-present.
He had a brilliant shot-to-goal conversion rate of 24 percent and created 17 big chances in the top flight.
Mbeumo was a stand-out player for the west London outfit. He is just entering the prime of his career and would be a fabulous purchase for the Red Devils this summer.
United have a free run at signing him, considering he has made it clear that he does not want to join any other club than the Red Devils during the ongoing transfer window.
The onus is now on the club to find a suitable agreement with the Bees. They have had two bids worth £55.5m and £62.5m turned down for the former Troyes attacker.
Brentford may probably want closer to £70m to sanction his sale. Hopefully, United won’t give in to their demands and instead negotiate a slightly lesser transfer package.
United could step up their pursuit of a new striker once Mbeumo makes the switch.
