Leeds United ‘negotiating personal terms’ to sign star midfielder – £8.5M rumoured

This past week has been a mixed one for Leeds United fans. Emotions have been on a rollercoaster after a series of events in the transfer market.

Leeds had their eye on Strasbourg midfielder Habib Diarra. The club were locked in talks with the French side, and had one bid rejected. But before another move could be made, Sunderland swooped in to sign the Senegalese midfielder. As if that was not enough, the Black Cats also agreed a deal for Leeds target Reinildo.

On the bright side of things, the Whites are set to make their third signing of the summer. Wolfsburg’s Sebastiaan Bornauw is set to complete his medical at Elland Road on Monday.

After losing out on Habib Diarra, Leeds have shifted their attention elsewhere as they look for options to strengthen the middle of the park.

Sky Sports Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that Leeds are negotiating personal terms with Noah Sadiki. The Union Saint-Gilloise midfielder is one of many players at the Belgian club tipped to leave this summer. The club’s CEO Philippe Bormans admitted that they would find it hard to keep their best players past this transfer window:

“It will be difficult, but we are positive. There is clearly an interest in players like Ivanovic, Vanhoutte and Sadiki. And yes, some of them will surely leave this summer.”

“We are a club with a limited budget whose objective is to give a player a chance by helping him progress. We know that if a big European club knocks on our door, the player will leave if all parties are satisfied,”

Sadiki would be a top signing

For the £8.5million fee mentioned, Noah Sadiki would be a bargain. A midfielder who can cover both boxes, and offer a goal threat is invaluable in this era.

Add the fact that he can adapt to play to deeper roles, he has the potential to develop into an all-round midfielder. Sadiki could bring the best out of Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka next season.
