Bryan Mbeumo was among the names heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United during the early part of the summer transfer window.
While Newcastle’s move for Mbeumo collapsed because they deemed him to be too expensive, what becomes of the Cameroon international will no doubt be of interest to Toon fans after such lengthy links.
The Newcastle transfer target had been widely expected to join Manchester United this summer but there’s been a fresh twist.
Indeed, Brentford have broken their silence on Mbeumo’s future.

Bryan Mbeumo could now stay at Brentford
Bees Director of Football Phil Giles has now suggested the forward would in fact be happy to stay with the west London club this summer.
Interestingly, Giles is a target at St James’ Park. Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Giles is a Newcastle target for their sporting director role.
Asked by Sky Sports about the latest on Mbeumo’s potential departure, Giles said: “From what I understand, he is also, if needs be, happy to stay at Brentford next year as well.
“We’ve spoken to Bryan and his representatives. It’s not a given that he’s going to depart this summer.”

What Bryan Mbeumo’s camp told Newcastle United during talks
Mbeumo wanted to be Newcastle’s highest-paid player if he were to join this summer. Such a message was reportedly signalled to them before the club dropped their interest.
That is not an easy thing to guarantee, given the other things Newcastle need to do this summer.
Indeed, Newcastle will hold contract talks with Alexander Isak soon, and it’s hard to imagine the superstar Swedish striker being too happy if a new player came in on more money than him.
With that in mind, it looks a wise decision to have walked away from the potential deal. Few would doubt that Mbeumo would have been a fine signing for Eddie Howe’s side after scoring 20 Premier League goals last season, but they cannot be held to ransom.
In an ideal world, he would have joined this summer. Newcastle, however, have to be careful.
