Ron McBride
Utah Head Coach, 1990-2002
Utah Offensive Coordinator, 1977-82
Utah OL Coach, 1985-86
Coach Mac is one of the most loved and respected coaches in Utah's 131 years as he revolutionized the Utah football program and took them to new heights. He was the head coach for 13 seasons and finished his tenure with an 88-63 record, and six bowl appearances including the 1992 Copper Bowl and the 1993 Freedom Bowl. There were 21 Utes drafted during his tenure as well.
His best season was the 1994 season when the team went 10-2 and took down No. 15 Arizona in the Freedom Bowl. That wasn't the only massive win for this squad as they also beat Oregon and BYU on the way to a top-10 finish and the program's first ten-win season in history.
McBride's squads also clinched shares of both the WAC and Mountain West titles during his time.
In 2012 McBride was inducted into the Utah Athletics Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the Utah Sports Hall of Fame, and Weber State Hall of Fame, and has been awarded the All-American Football Foundation's Lifetime Achievement Award and was honored by the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame.
Roy Jefferson
Utah Wide Receiver, 1962-64
Jefferson is one of the most well-known wide receivers in Utah football history. He was a first-team all-American and a three-year letterman at Utah. He was also recognized by the WAC as an All-Conference selection for three years.
Jefferson was a part of the 1964 Liberty Bowl team that took down West Virginia. That team was inducted into the Utah Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014 and Jefferson was enshrined as an individual in 1986.
He finished his Utah career with 1120 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. His average reception rate comes out to 16.6 yards per catch which remains in the top eight in the Utah history books. He was putting up 37.3 yards per game as well during his time at Utah.
Jefferson also had a long and successful NFL career after his time at Utah. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers 18th overall in the 1965 NFL Draft. He played 12 seasons in total with the Steelers, Baltimore Colts, and the then-Washington Redskins. He is also a Super Bowl Champion, as he was with the Colts when they won Super Bowl V over the Cowboys in 1971. Jefferson was a three All-Pro selection and was selected for the same number of Pro Bowl appearances.
