Reports: Arsenal step up Eberechi Eze interest

Various reports today suggest that Arsenal are stepping up their interest in Eberechi Eze, as the Gunners seek to bolster their forward line and attacking midfield options.

The 27 year old scored the winner to help Crystal Palace win the FA Cup in May, and according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano he is open to a move to North London this summer.

It’s reported that meetings took place at the weekend, and reading between the lines it now appears to be a situation that requires the two clubs to come to an agreement. Eze began his fledgling career at Arsenal before being released at the age of 13, so if it happens he’ll have come full circle to add attacking craft and quality to the squad.

The club are expecting to announce the arrival of Martin Zubimendi this week, as well as Kepa Arrizabalaga, while Christian Norgaard’s move from Brentford appears to be close to completion. There’s also ongoing interest in Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera, and while the big decision over the striker has yet to be made, that’s a signing that will happen this summer.

It remains to be seen how the Eze situation will play out, but he’s a player who would add a lot to this squad, with a maverick sensibility that could give the side another dimension for the season ahead.

There’s lots of smoke around this one, so the Poo-O-Meter is low.
