Former Celtics champion gets contract guaranteed for next season (report)

Svi Mykhailiuk will continue his time with the Jazz after the organization guaranteed his $3.7 million contract for next season, per HoopHype’s Michael Scotto. Mykhailiuk originally signed a four year, $15 million contract with the Jazz last season but only the first season of his deal was guaranteed.

But the Jazz liked enough of what they saw out of Mykhailiuk that he’ll stick around for a second season. It likely didn’t hurt that the Jazz are now run by Austin Ainge, the former Celtics execute who now leads Utah as its president of basketball operations.

Mykhailiuk, 28, was with the Celtics during the 2023-24 season as they won the 2024 NBA championship. He appeared in 41 games for the Celtics. Mykhailiuk got his ring with the Celtics when the Jazz were in town back in March. The guard has also played for the Lakers, Pistons, Thunder, Raptors, Knicks and Hornets in his NBA career that’s spanned 331 total games.

Mykhailiuk was able to use some of his Celtics success to land a contract with the Jazz. Last season he played in 38 games (13 starts) in Utah, averaging 8.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. The Jazz are still in rebuild mode fresh after taking Ace Bailey with the No. 5 pick as they’ll have Mykhailiuk around going forward.
