Bayern Munich’s Club World Cup match against Flamengo was a gruelling fight. In the heat, against a team that would not stop running and pushing and giving the Bavarians scares, Bayern managed to find a way to win- but only through a lot of effort.
Things will not get any easier, either. Bayern will face Paris Saint Germain, who unfortunately won their first Champions League title this past season, in the quarterfinals of the competition. Of course, head coach Vincent Kompany was asked to give his thoughts on the upcoming match in the post Flamengo match press conference:
“We’ll see what we need for that game. The main thing now is we have to rest,” Kompany emphasized, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “We have to rebuild the energy. Two top sides playing each other on the big stage. We’ll be ready for that.”
The last time the two sides met was in November as, Bayern came out on top in a 1-0 win in the Champions League. Will Bayern be able to repeat the over seven months later? That is the big question.
