Lyon winger Malick Fofana has been pictured wearing a Manchester United shirt during an individual summer training drill.
He wore the 2022-23 green away kit, with Marcus Rashford’s name on his back. Of course, some will draw comparisons to Alejandro Garnacho’s decision to don a Villa kit with Rashford’s shirt number.
However, the important difference is that Fofana wore a United shirt, and he has been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford in recent weeks.

A couple of weeks ago, L’Equipe reporter Hugo Guillemot confirmed that the Red Devils made enquiries for the Belgian, along with Chelsea and Liverpool.
Fofana’s price tag is likely to drop
Prior to Lyon’s relegation to France’s second tier, it was reported that they wanted at least €50m (£43m) for the winger. However, that valuation could have been lowered substantially now.
Even so, after spending £62.5m on Matheus Cunha, it would be a surprise to see United spending a significant sum on another player who favours the left flank, especially with Alejandro Garnacho and Rashford also still at the club.
Man United are still looking to buy another winger
At the moment, Ruben Amorim’s side are focused on securing the services of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. At the time of writing, the two teams have not reached an agreement over the transfer fee, but a third bid is expected to be tabled imminently.
Reports suggest that Brentford value Mbeumo at a higher amount than Cunha so any offer must guarantee a set fee which is above what the Brazilian international was signed for. Currently, there is no indication that United will walk away from the deal and there is no suggestion that the move is in danger of being hijacked by another club.
