Manchester United have been linked with a transfer interest in Ollie Watkins

The transfer window is now well underway with Manchester United looking to make moves between now and the September 1 deadline.

’s side made an early addition with the £62.5 million capture of . Youngster Diego Leon will also join from Cerro Porteno.

They are yet to be joined by more new additions, but United continue to work on deals. Talks with Brentford for continue with the club seeing a second bid turned down by the Bees.

United have also been linked with several other players including , although it seems that the Sporting CP striker is leaning towards a move to Arsenal.

As the search for signings continue, MEN sport have had a look at a couple of the latest stories doing the rounds at . We have also given our thoughts on the situations.

Ollie Watkins stance

United have been linked with an interest in Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins with uncertainty over the future of Rasmus Hojlund.

report that the England man is on a list of potential options should Hojlund leave the club this summer. The report says that there has been contact between United and Villa, but he is one of several options.

Watkins was of interest to Arsenal in January, with the Gunners having a £40 million bid turned down. Villa were said to be holding out for £60 million, and their stance is said to have not changed, with the player having three years remaining on his contract.

MEN Sport says: United could potentially have an advantage if they are to pursue their interest, which they may hope could get them a discount on any transfer. That is the relationship between the two clubs.

United did a deal with Villa in January to allow Marcus Rashford to join them on loan. While that deal has not been made permanent this summer, United may hope to use that established relationship to try and get the best deal possible for Watkins.

Midfielder competition

Manchester United face more competition for Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi. The Nigerian has been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer following relegation with the Foxes.

Ndidi is said to have a £9 million release clause in his contract due to the relegation. Journalist Ben Jacobs has named United as one of the clubs interested.

However, they face competition from Juventus, Everton and clubs in Saudi Arabia. La Liga club Real Betis are the latest to have reportedly made an enquiry.

MEN Sport says: For £9 million Ndidi could be a really good buy for United; while he has not been in the best of form at times for Leicester, he has shown that when employed in his natural deeper position with a creative player next to him, he can be really effective still.

The last couple of years have also seen him play a more attacking position, which will only help his improvement. However, for the price he is available at, if he is played in a deeper role, he could be the perfect replacement for Casemiro.
