Manchester United should hijack a transfer deal between Fenerbahce and the Saudi Pro League.
Manchester United have the ongoing saga of which striker do they choose to replace Rasmus Hojlund and become their long-term number nine. It comes after a season in which United scored the fifth-fewest goals in the Premier League.
There is a striker who has not been linked to Man United in recent months who could be on the move this summer, and the Red Devils should consider hijacking his transfer and landing themselves a number nine.
Man United should sign Jhon Duran
One of the most controversial transfers of the past six months was when Aston Villa star Jhon Duran decided to leave the club aged 20 to join Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr for £70m. It came after he broke out at Villa and showed himself to be one of the most exciting strikers in the Premier League during the first half of the season.
Since then, Duran has scored 12 goals in 18 games for Al Nassr, but it now seems that he could be on the move again. According to Fabrizio Romano, Turkish side Fenerbahce are progressing to get a deal done to sign Duran this summer, just six months after he left Aston Villa.

Managed by Jose Mourinho, Fenerbahce are hoping to get a deal across the line for Duran, and Romano confirmed that the Turkish side are ‘confident’ that they will sign the striker. It would be a huge coup for Mourinho’s side.
If he’s going to Fenerbahce, the asking price can’t be too high as they aren’t the most wealthy of clubs. With that in mind, if Fenerbahce can afford Duran, then United certainly can, especially with the sales of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony.
Duran would be a better signing than Gyokeres
United should try to hijack Fenerbahce’s deal to sign Duran, as he can easily be their number nine for the future. There are several reasons why the Colombian international would be a better addition than the likes of Gyokeres, too.
Firstly, Duran has already proven that he can be successful in the Premier League. He scored seven goals in 20 games for Villa before he left in January. Furthermore, he is significantly younger than Gyokeres, meaning that he could not only solve United’s striker issue now, but also continue to solve it for a very long time into the future.
Plus, Duran is a quicker striker than Gyokeres and would be able to feed off the service from Matheus Cunha and Bruno Fernandes behind him. Plus, with an estimated market value of around £30m, he would be cheaper than Gyokeres, who has an £85m release clause.
It would be a surprising deal considering that United haven’t been linked with Duran, but there’s no doubt that he would be an excellent signing for Amorim if he were to make the move.
