West Ham United are preparing to sell midfielder/attacker Mohammed Kudus this summer amid interest from Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Hammers need funds from his sale for their much-needed squad overhaul. The Irons have struggled to get going in the market, and they need this Kudus transfer to bolster the coffers.
According to Ben Jacobs, ‘his departure could lead the Hammers to turn their attention to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall or Carney Chukwuemeka.’
West Ham had shown interest in the Chelsea duo when the Blues first offered players in exchange for the Ghanaian international star.
Dewsbury-Hall struggled for game time this season at Chelsea. He featured more prominently in the Europa Conference League and other competitions besides the Premier League.
The former Leicester City midfielder still managed five goals and four assists in 33 appearances for Chelsea. He will be looking for playing time, which West Ham can provide him.
West Ham need quality additions in the engine room, and Dewsbury-Hall could prove a worthwhile signing.
He is a fantastic midfielder on his day and can replace Kudus and Lucas Paqueta.
Meanwhile, Chukwuemeka has also found it difficult to get into the first team under Enzo Maresca, and West Ham could pounce.
Chukwuemeka went out on loan to Borussia Dortmund in the second half of the season, where he impressed.
However, BVB refused to sign him permanently, with Chelsea asking for £35-£40 million.
Chukwuemeka is a talented young midfielder with ample room for growth if he can get consistent playing time.
West Ham can be the perfect stomping ground for the former Aston Villa ace. He can strengthen the team in the centre as they look to bounce back from an atrocious 2024/25 season.
A loan move for Dewsbury-Hall makes more sense for West Ham – View
While Chukwuemeka has potential, Dewsbury-Hall is a safer, more immediate solution.
He is more experienced at the top level and physically more reliable. These are crucial qualities for a West Ham side that needs stability and impact now.
Before his move to Chelsea, Dewsbury-Hall was instrumental in Leicester’s promotion push, delivering 12 goals and 15 assists in the Championship.
He has proven he can carry box-to-box responsibility and play regular football without breaking down. A loan for the 26-year-old would be a brilliant business deal.
It limits risk, fits West Ham’s financial constraints, and gives manager Graham Potter a ready Premier League performer who can fill the void left by Kudus.
