Newcastle United can get Chelsea revenge by turning £50m winger into Eddie Howe superstar

Newcastle United were linked with Chelsea winger Noni Madueke last summer and he could be available this window.

Chelsea are reportedly willing to sell England international Noni Madueke this summer.

A relentless spending spree has made competition for first-team places stiff at Stamford Bridge. Nicolas Jackson, Liam Delap, Pedro Neto, Christopher Nkunku, Cole Palmer, Tyrique George, Marc Guiu, Andrey Santos, Estevao Willian and now Joao Pedro are competing for attacking spots under Enzo Maresca.

Raheem Sterling and Joao Felix are also on Chelsea’s books to highlight the abundance of talent at Maresca’s disposal. Meme culture has been rife in recent times regarding the Blues and their lavish spending.

Joao Pedro frustration for Newcastle United

Chelsea have forked out almost £2billion on new arrivals since Roman Abramovich’s exit three years ago. This has especially frustrated Newcastle given their struggles with PSR regulations.

That anger was amplified earlier this week when it became clear Brighton star Pedro will join the Blues. Newcastle had headhunted the 23-year-old as a top target but Chelsea are not set to sign him on a seven-year deal.

Noni Madueke available for £50m

Various sources claim Madueke could now be made available this summer. Newcastle were linked with a possible loan move last summer before he forced his way into Chelsea’s thinking.

A left-footed right-winger, his credentials would add a fresh dynamic to Newcastle’s attack. At 23, he has room for improvement and Howe has a track record of improving English internationals.

Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on interest from Arsenal last week - also name-checking Toon ace Anthony Gordon. He said: “At the moment, Arsenal have not made any bid for Noni Madueke. He’s not the only name they have on the list.

“For example, they also appreciate Anthony Gordon at Newcastle. So there are several candidates at Arsenal for the winger position. But I can tell you that Noni Madueke is one of the names being discussed internally at Arsenal this week by the club. He’s a player who is appreciated. He’s a player who Arsenal are considering.”

Chelsea mouthpiece stunned by Noni Madueke talk

Former Chelsea defender Scott Minto is surprised by rumours linking Madueke with a possible exit. He told talkSPORT: “Definitely, I mean I’ve seen that (rumour) and I don’t get it. Not only do I think he’s a very good footballer coming in, being that inverted winger on the right, but I’ve also seen him play on the left.

“I know Jamie Gittens looks like it’s happening now, and I do understand that because Jadon Sancho’s gone back to United, (Mykhailo) Mudryk, we don’t know when he’s going to play again. But to get rid of Madueke when he looks like he could be one of Chelsea’s best players, I find that very strange indeed.”
