In demand: Eberechi Eze, Ollie Watkins and Mohammed Kudus
The second summer transfer window is heating up nicely now we’ve entered July with plenty of major deals being worked on. Arsenal are in talks over a huge move to Eberechi Eze, having also taken an interest in Hugo Ekitike amid the ongoing stalemate over Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres. Brentford Director of Football Phil Giles says he hopes to have two members of Keith Andrews’s backroom staff in place this week, writes Sam Tabuteau.
Speaking at the unveiling of Andrews as Brentford head coach, Giles said the club were looking at internal and external options to fill the four vacant backroom staff roles.
Following the departure of long-serving head coach Thomas Frank to Tottenham, first-team assistant coach Justin Cochrane, head of performance Chris Haslam and analyst Joe Newton left Brentford to join the Dane in north London.
Assistant Claus Norgaard also departed, leaving Brentford needing to make four new appointments to support Andrews as he embarks on his first head coach role.

Meanwhile, loan deals officially come to an end too with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling and Kyle Walker all returning to their parent clubs.
Brentford director of football Phil Giles has said that it is “not impossible” that Bryan Mbeumo stays at the club despite fierce interest in him.
The Cameroon forward has been the subject of two rejected bids from Manchester United, with the Red Devils’ most recent offer worth £62.5million.
It has also been claimed that Tottenham hold an interest in the winger, with former Brentford boss Thomas Frank taking up the north London vacancy after the sacking of Ange Postecoglou.
The West Ham star has emerged as a target for Tottenham, but they are set to face competition from their London rivals for the Ghana international.
Chelsea have had an approach for Kudus knocked back by West Ham earlier in the summer and it is understood the Hammers would not be interested in a potential swap deal.
