Aston Villa’s PSR troubles have been well-documented this summer.
Villa were reportedly looking to sell players to help avoid a potential breach amid their growing financial concerns.
However, a recent update has emerged stating that a fire sale will not be necessary at Villa to avoid PSR breaches.
Instead, Unai Emery will keep hold of his key stars heading into the 2025/26 campaign.

Aston Villa set to sell women’s team
With funds still needed to avoid a PSR breach, Villa have instead opted to sell the women’s team.
The side is currently worth £55 million, with the Birmingham outfit working on a deal to sell a 10 per cent stake to investors, with a view to selling the rest of it to Villa’s holding company.

This deal is similar to what Chelsea did last summer to help the London club have more financial freedom in the market.
Now, the sale could generate £55m for NSWE and help avoid any PSR troubles going into the transfer window.
Nevertheless, Villa’s owners should be ashamed of what they are doing to the women’s team.
This deal is simply outrageous and completely devalues women’s football on the eve of the 2025 Euros.
By doing this, NSWE have basically stated that they see the women’s team as nothing but a pawn to help benefit the men’s squad.
For all the preaching Aston Villa do about equality in football, it is clear that they value the men’s team far more.
With the Aston Villa Women team in the WSL and having a squad full of international players, this only makes the situation worse.

Heavy investment is needed from NSWE to win back trust in the women’s game
Popularity in the women’s game is no doubt growing season after season.
With Villa Park now hosting matches for the women’s side, this now needs to be followed up with investment in the squad.
While this deal to sell the team is unacceptable, trust can be earned back by proper investment in the game.
There is money to be made from the women’s game. However, NSWE simply need to show more ambition or they will be left behind.
