After a somewhat slow start to the summer, Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is now making significant moves in the transfer market.
The month of July should see several arrivals at the Emirates, and Arsenal will probably begin with the signing of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
Zubimendi is in London right now completing his move to Arsenal, a considerable coup for Mikel Arteta and his team.
But Arsenal’s work won’t be fully celebrated by fans until Andrea Berta is able to make significant additions to the club’s attacking resources.
Arteta is desperate for a new striker and the club also want to sign an accomplished, right-footed left winger if possible.
Enter the stage, Eberechi Eze.
Eberechi Eze now ready to join Arsenal after holding talks
After another stunning season for Crystal Palace, Arsenal are pursuing a deal for Eze this summer, who could thrive in a number of roles for Arteta.
And journalist Fabrizio Romano has now provided a fresh update on Arsenal’s attempts to sign Eze, which have just taken a significant step forward.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano claimed that Arsenal were now ‘pushing’ to sign Eze, who would be keen on a move to north London.
Romano said: “Arsenal had a meeting with the agents of Eberechi Eze over the weekend. I can tell you that the meeting was an important meeting because Arsenal wanted to start discussing with the player side about eventual conditions of the deal to sign Eze.
“So Arsenal have all the information on the release clause of the player, they have all the information on the installments, they have all the information now on the player side in terms of salary, in terms of transfer interest from the player, in terms of commission, the whole package for Eze.
“So the contact took place over the weekend, it was quite a positive one, so the player is not close to a move to Arsenal, but from what I’m hearing the player would be open to joining Arsenal.
“Tottenham remain interested in the player but Arsenal are pushing strong on this one, let’s see if they decide to proceed.”
Eberechi Eze might not be the right signing for Arsenal right now
As almost any Premier League fan will point out, Eze is a seriously talented footballer, the kind of midfielder who would improve any top six team.
However, now might not be the opportune time for Arsenal to add a player of Eze’s position profile — Berta’s priorities should be elsewhere.
£68m-rated Eze can play as a left winger, but he’s best as a number ten or eight, and his favoured role at Arsenal would be in one either occupied by Declan Rice or Martin Odegaard.
And when you consider that duo already have Mikel Merino and Ethan Nwaneri vying for their first team roles, Berta should be focusing those funds on an out-and-out winger.
Arsenal want Rodrygo from Real Madrid and even if they have to wait long into the summer, that’s a deal worth being patient for.
Arteta and Berta have the luxury of choice this summer, and although Eze is a superstar, he’s not the profile of player Arsenal need most right now.
