Report: Two Leeds United targets now on Everton's radar after Fabrizio Romano hands Toffees transfer blow

Leeds United’s search for new full-backs rumbles on, becoming more and more pressing with every passing day of this summer’s transfer window.

Although the summer transfer window closes on September 1st, still two months away, Leeds United find themselves with a very dire need for new full-backs ahead of the new season.

Daniel Farke’s side will get their pre-season friendlies underway in the coming weeks. Junior Firpo is set to join Real Betis whilst Sam Byram is yet to renew his stay at Leeds United, really leaving Farke with only Jayden Bogle and Isaac Schmidt.

Several left-backs have been linked with Leeds in the last several weeks. There’s also a number of right-backs on the radar at Elland Road, but already we’re seeing Farke’s side either being priced out of moves, or losing against more stern competition.

One name mentioned of late is Vladimir Coufal. The Czech is set to be released by West Ham and Leeds United have shown interest in signing Coufal on a free transfer.

Fabrizio Romano’s latest update could see Everton move for Vladimir Coufal

Leeds aren’t alone in their pursuit of Coufal, who also counts Wolves and Everton among his suitors. Earlier in the summer, though, it was claimed that Coufal preferred to move to Everton this summer, and to reunite with former West Ham manager David Moyes.

But the Toffees looked as though they were turning to an alternative option in Kenny Tete. Reports revealed that Everton had agreed a deal to sign Tete on a free transfer from Fulham, but then the Cottagers offered Tete a new deal to stay.

Now, journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed how ‘Fulham are now closing in on the agreement’ with Tete, all but ending Everton’s hopes of signing the right-back, and surely putting Coufal back on their radar.

Everton could beat Leeds United to another signing after Vladimir Coufal

Recently, Coufal’s agent said he was weighing up his options ahead of the new season, with the 32-year-old understood to be keen to remain in the Premier League.

Everton have long been linked with Coufal. But a separate report from BBC has also revealed how Leeds United transfer target Kyle Walker-Peters is, too.

Leeds have been linked with Walker-Peters throughout the year. He’s also becoming a free agent as his Southampton contract comes to an end, and BBC name him and Coufal as Moyes’ preferred targets at right-back.

With interest rife in Walker-Peters too, Leeds United and Farke really face an uphill battle to land either one of them. But with new signings rolling in at Elland Road and hopes for next season high, it could tempt others to make the move too.
