Liverpool plans next transfer with‘three concrete options’

After a summer of heavy spending and smart planning, Liverpool are still not done in the transfer window.

The Reds have already welcomed new faces — including Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez — but one key position remains up in the air: a proper No. 9.

Arne Slot’s first season saw flashes of brilliance from Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota, but not enough to cement their roles as nailed-on starters.

That’s where the search begins — and Sky Germany reports Liverpool have narrowed it down to three firm names: Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak, and Victor Osimhen.

Transfer expert Florian Plettenberg reports, “Liverpool are currently focusing on three concrete options in their search for a new number 9: Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak, and Victor Osimhen.”

Each target brings something different to the table — and each comes with their own challenges. The Reds have done background checks and weighed up their fit, finances, and future prospects.

But before they make a final move, one thing is clear: someone must leave before someone else walks in.

Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak, or Victor Osimhen: The realistic option for Liverpool

Ekitike is the most affordable of the trio. The 23-year-old Frenchman impressed at Eintracht Frankfurt and knows a move to Liverpool would be a step up.

But he’s also been told to wait, with Liverpool needing to raise funds first. As Plettenberg explains, “Ekitike… is very high on the list… but the club must sell players first.”

Alexander Isak is the most complete striker on the list — and maybe the most expensive. Newcastle don’t want to sell, but Isak reportedly sees Liverpool as an attractive next step. Still, with a price tag that could break the bank, the Reds may hesitate before rolling the dice.

Osimhen is a wildcard. Napoli are open to selling, and Osimhen has already turned down Saudi offers. But with Lukaku now at Napoli and no other strong Premier League bids, Liverpool might sneak in late — if the numbers make sense.
