Former Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, who is likely to leave current club Juventus in this summer transfer window just a little over a year after making the switch to Turin, could have options beyond a return to the Premier League.

Brazilian international joined Juve for £42m so , who had just qualified for the Champions League with the midfielder's help, could ensure they complied with the Profitability and Sustainability Rules before the June deadline 12 months ago. He had spent five years at Villa Park, helping to re-establish the club back in the top flight.

The , though, making only three league starts in his first campaign in Italy and not contributing any goals or assists - something he became a reliable source of at Villa - in any competition. It would appear as though he isn't firmly rooted in new manager Igor Tudor's plans, either.

Fenerbahce, the Istanbul outfit managed by Jose Mourinho, are keen to take Luiz on loan this season. They have the likes of Luiz's compatriot Fred, striker Cenk Tosun and centre half Caglar Soyuncu on their books - as well, of course, as his friend and former Villa colleague Diego Carlos.

Centre half Carlos moved to Turkiye in the January transfer window but he only made four appearances in the second half of the season having suffered an injury which kept him out between early February and the middle of April. The two Brazilians spent two years at Villa Park together after Carlos' arrival from Sevilla in 2022.

Fanatik report that Juve are keen on selling Luiz this summer, but that if no suitable offers present themselves then they will be forced to consider a loan and at that stage Fenerbahce could get involved. They also like Thomas Partey, who is set to leave Arsenal on a free transfer. Leeds United have also been linked with Luiz, so too have Villa themselves.
