Nottingham Forest will be in the market for a number of players before the transfer window closes, with European football to look forward to on Trentside.
The Reds haven’t played in Europe since the 1995/96 campaign when Forest reached the quarter-final of the UEFA Cup before losing to Bayern Munich.
Forest have made strides since returning to the Premier League in 2022, and as Evangelos Marinakis promised, the Reds haven’t been in the division to make the numbers up.
Igor Jesus is set to sign for Forest in the coming days after Botafogo were knocked out of the Club World Cup, and he could be joined by other players this summer too.

Nottingham Forest could sign Richard Rios
The central midfielder is thought to have a host of admirers, but right now he’s still playing for Palmeiras in the Club World Cup in the United States.
Still, a departure hasn’t been ruled out, with Forest the only club to ask questions about signing Rios this summer, according to Brazilian outfit Egool.
Rios is being watched by a host of clubs, but right now it’s nothing more than tentative interest in the player valued at £25.75 million.
Forest could be on the lookout for a new midfielder this month, with Danilo being courted by Lyon and other clubs during the window.
MORE FOREST STORIES
It’s believed that Forest are the only club to make significant steps to firm up their interest in Rios this summer ahead of a possible move for him to come to Europe.
Rios could be brilliant Forest signing
The 25-year-old probably would need a midfield enforcer alongside him and it remains to be seen whether it would be Ibrahim Sangare, Elliot Anderson or Nicolas Dominguez who would complete that role.
Rios has scored four goals and claimed three assists during the 2025 campaign, and he’s a regular on the international stage with Colombia, collecting 21 caps.
A midfielder, perhaps, isn’t the priority for Forest this summer, but signing one might allow Nuno Espirito Santo more flexibility to operate with a three-pronged midfield in the middle of the park.
Rios feels like a nice fit for Forest. At 25, he still has some potential, but at the same time, he’s played a lot of senior football and shouldn’t be too fazed by coming to the Premier League.
