The announcement was made by the official EA Sports X (formerly Twitter) account, which posted "Bring the Madness. Let's run it back" with the hashtags #CBB and #ItsInTheGame, referring not to College Basketball but rather EA Sports' old slogan.
For those not old enough to remember, EA used to release its collegiate basketball sim titled NCAA Basketball in the '90s, with the last release back in 2009. In total, EA Sports has released 13 basketball games under the NCAA banner, with the most recent one being NCAA Basketball 10.
EA's collegiate football game was also titled NCAA Football, before its resurgence last year with a simpler title, EA Sports College Football.
Unfortunately, there's no mention of a release date, when we can expect the reveal and whatnot. I assume EA would want to release this near the NCAA season, which means we probably won't see it until Q1 2026.

While EA's Madden franchise might be floundering, the debut of its collegiate football sim amassed positive global reception. Over on Open Critic, the game has a "Strong' rating, and has even managed an 81 review score average, which isn't easy to do for a sports sim.
Let's hope the same care is applied to EA Sports College Basketball, since virtual hoopsters desperately need another game without being pelted left and right by 2K's microtransaction-heavy NBA 2K franchise. That said, I fully expect EA's basketball game to be filled with microtransactions as well, though one can hope, right?
