RCD Mallorca’s Pablo Maffeo is on Nottingham Forest’s transfer agenda for this summer.
At the weekend, El Chiringuito reported the English club have made a €6m bid for the right-back. They also stated he’s agreed personal terms with Nottingham Forest, without providing further details.
On Monday, Marca explained the La Liga club have no record of receiving an offer from Nottingham Forest.
They also reported the 27-year-old wants to change clubs in this window and Mallorca are requesting €10m to sanction his sale. The fullback has a year left on his contract.
Mallorca sporting director Pablo Ortells spoke to Onda Cero about a few topics including the Nottingham Forest target.
Ortells and Onda Cero made no mention of Nuno Espírito Santo’s side or any other club when discussing the fullback. Amid claims of Nottingham Forest’s offer for Maffeo, the official said they haven’t received a bid for him.
“As of today, Maffeo has a contract, and we’re counting on him. To date, nothing has arrived for Maffeo or [Cyle] Larin,” he said.
Towards the end of last season, Maffeo was booed by a section of Mallorca fans at their home stadium. Marca reported at that time that “Maffeo go now” was also chanted from the stands. The defender wasn’t impressed and has been looking for a new club for next season.
The sporting director has now sent a message to Maffeo.
“I understand that things didn’t end well, and we weren’t pleased with performances on the pitch, but we’ll have to turn things around and move forward because they’re Mallorca players,” Ortells explained.
