Man Utd'rejected'chance to sign 24-goal striker who lit up the Premier League

Manchester United want to sign a marquee striker to boost their attack for the upcoming campaign.

According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Man United were offered an opportunity to sign Jhon Duran on loan from Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.

They rejected this possibility as they were told to cover his full wages.

The Red Devils failed in their pursuit of signing Liam Delap earlier in this transfer window.

Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen and Hugo Ekitike are linked with United but signing any of the three could be financially challenging.

Duran shone under Unai Emery at Aston Villa, netting 12 goals in 29 games in the first half of the 2024-25 season.

Most of his appearances came from the bench but the 21-year-old was still able to make game-changing impacts.

His displays caught the eye of several clubs including Al Nassr.

He moved to Saudi in January and bagged 12 goals in 18 games.

However, Duran wants a change of scenery just six months into his career in the Middle East.

Duran would have been a fantastic acquisition for United after his starring spell in the Premier League.

We believe, they made the right decision to turn down the proposal due to the player’s astronomical wages.

Duran is currently drawing a staggering paycheck of £330,000 per week.

United are trying to trim their bloated wage bill by putting stars like Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Casemiro on the transfer shortlist.

Duran is now expected to complete his loan transfer to Fenerbahce, with the Turkish giants ready to pay his entire salary.
