Club turn to Real Madrid option as negotiations for Leeds United player are stalling

Real Madrid’s Gonzalo García and Leeds United’s Mateo Joseph are targets for Real Betis this summer, as explained Tuesday’s edition of Diario de Sevilla.

On June 15th, ABC Sevilla reported Real Betis were working on agreeing personal terms with the Leeds striker. They wanted to sort that out before approaching the Whites to start negotiations.

It’s unclear whether Manuel Pellegrini’s side have agreed terms with the 21-year-old, but they seem to have contacted Leeds.

Diario de Sevilla states the Andalusian club have already approached Daniel Farke’s side for the Spain U21 international. It’s claimed the negotiations have stalled as the two clubs weren’t able to reach an agreement on the transfer fee.

Therefore, Real Betis have now turned their attention to the young Real Madrid striker.

The 21-year-old managed two goals and an assist from three Club World Cup games and is attracting interest from Real Betis and other clubs. The Spanish club now want to take further steps to try and sign him this summer.

Meanwhile, Joseph played 1,270 minutes from 39 league game for Leeds last season. He wants regular minutes next season, either with the Premier League newcomers or with another club.
