West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus is on the radar at Newcastle United after they missed out on Joao Pedro and Bryan Mbeumo, sources have told Football Insider.

The Magpies had submitted a bid for Pedro but he has chosen to join Chelsea, while Mbeumo has his heart set on a move to Man United before September’s deadline.

Kudus has emerged as a target for Newcastle despite a disappointing 2024-25 campaign for West Ham.

The Ghana international is very much on the radar for Eddie Howe’s side alongside Anthony Elanga, with Football Insider revealing on Monday (30 June) that they are readying an improved offer for the Nottingham Forest winger.

Newcastle set sights on Elanga and Kudus

Kudus has an £85million release clause for Premier League clubs this summer but sources say it is an “open secret” that West Ham need to sell him in order to do their own business.

Interested clubs, including Tottenham, Newcastle and Chelsea, are confident of striking a cut-price deal for the ex-Ajax man.

He is under contract with West Ham until June 2028 after joining two years ago for a fee of around £38million including add-ons.

The 24-year-old had been on the radar of Saudi Pro League clubs but Football Insider revealed on 30 May that Kudus does not want to make that move at this stage of his career.

He will not play at this winter’s Africa Cup of Nations after Ghana failed to qualify for the competition.

Newcastle get PSR boost after £72m reveal

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (26 June) that Newcastle are set for a financial boost as a £72million loss is about to drop out of their Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) calculations.

The Tyneside club have struggled to comply with the PSR rules since Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) secured its £305million takeover in October 2021.

Under PSR rules, Premier League sides are only permitted to lose £105million over a rolling three-year period.
