Harvey Elliott

Harvey Elliott is likely to leave Liverpool this summer

Liverpool midfielder - and U21 Euro player of the tournament, no less - Harvey Elliott is free to leave Anfield for £40m this summer, according to reports, amid links with Premier League rivals .

Fresh from his summer heroics, having guided England's under 21s to a second successive European title under Lee Carsley, Elliott's club future now comes under the spotlight.

The midfielder, who joined Liverpool from Fulham as a teenager in 2019, was a regular in the final two campaigns of the era - he played 99 times between 2022 and 2024 - but his game time was reduced markedly in the first season under new boss Arne Slot as the won the title.

It has been anticipated for some time that Elliott would probably have to leave Anfield in order to secure more regular football - he's behind the likes of Dominik Szboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis MacAllister and Curtis Jones in the midfield pecking order, while they've also signed Florian Wirtz for a nine-figure sum.

have been credited with an interest in the 22-year-old as they look to strengthen ahead of another jam-packed schedule involving football and another tilt at a top four Premier League finish, with the Young Lions.

Liverpool, , want £40m to part with the player, who has a couple of years left on his Merseyside contract, with a buyback clause inserted into the deal. Alternatively, they are said to be ready to accept £50m without the buyback option.

Elliott, it's clarified, would prefer to be playing Champions League football - not something Villa can offer next season - and is willing to move abroad if necessary to achieve that aim.
