Manchester United’s transfer strategy this summer has been laser-focused on securing a new striker, with Ruben Amorim pushing the board for reinforcements.
The Red Devils have held firm interest in Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, and conversations with Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins and Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres have kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Other high-profile names, like Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike, have also surfaced, reflecting United’s determination to solve their goal‑scoring issues.

Each potential acquisition, however, comes with its own financial strain—and United are being deliberate in what they pursue.
Yet one surprise offering landed on their table: Jhon Duran, the dynamic Colombian striker who recently joined Al Nassr from Aston Villa in January.
Fabrizio Romano revealed via YouTube that United were presented with the chance to sign Jhon Duran on an initial loan, with Al Nassr covering his full salary.
The former Villa forward had netted 12 goals in 29 Premier League appearances last season, followed by 12 in 18 for Al Nassr, making him a tempting proposition.
However, United turned down the offer, opting to reserve resources for other attacking targets.
Romano explained: “Man United decided to turn down that possibility to focus on different targets.”

Duran, age 21, quickly moved on—Romano confirmed a loan deal to Fenerbahce is now “here we go,” with Al Nassr agreeing to loan him until June 2026, wages still covered.
For United, the decision reflects careful prioritisation.
Duran’s €336,600-per-week wages, even if loaned, would add considerable financial burden.
Instead, the club have shifted focus back to Bryan Mbeumo, and continue exploratory talks over other forwards like Gyokeres and Ekitike.
With their striker hunt ongoing, United concluded that despite Duran’s promise, he didn’t fit their current window plan.
While fans may note the Colombian’s rising stock, the club’s leadership clearly believe a different profile better aligns with their ambitions—and budget.
