Newcastle United have shown interest in Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott, with the 22-year-old reportedly open to a move away from Anfield this summer in search of more first-team football.
Elliott recently helped England retain their European Under-21 Championship title, winning Player of the Tournament in the process.
The youngster stood out alongside Newcastle’s own Tino Livramento, and now the pair could reunite at club level if Newcastle make a move for the disgruntled Red.
Graeme Bailey, chief correspondent for TBR Football, [confirmed](https://tbrfootball.com/50m-star-now-very-high-on-newcastles-radar-after-missing-out-on-joao-pedro-deal/) the interest.
“Newcastle United are looking at Harvey Elliott,” Bailey said. “He ticks an awful lot of boxes for Newcastle. He can play wide right or as a number 10. He has had a fantastic Under-21s Euros.”
Liverpool is reportedly valuing Elliott at £50 million, though Bailey suggested the final price could be slightly lower if the club loses a bit of leverage in a scenario ni which Elliott would submit a transfer request.
“Money-wise, Liverpool are looking for £50 million. They probably won’t get that, but it is going to be mid-40s, you would imagine,” Bailey said. “Good young player with a great CV. You could see how he would fit in at Newcastle United and be an Eddie Howe type player.”
Competition for Elliott should be high, however, with several Premier League and overseas clubs interested.
“Half the Premier League have been in touch over a move,” Bailey said. “There are clubs overseas that like him too. Jurgen Klopp would like him at RB. It’s a fascinating situation, and it would not be an easy one for Newcastle to do.”
Most significantly, Elliott appears ready for a new chapter, which might be enough for Newcastle to make a serious push.
“Elliott wants first-team football,” Bailey said. “He is ready to move now.”
