Ornstein: ‘Fantastic’ Man Utd star has now opened the door to a potential swap deal to…

**Marcus Rashford is keen to explore all avenues that will result in him sealing his desired transfer away from Manchester United this summer.**

As things stand, the 27-year-old will report back to Carrington next Monday for the start of United’s pre-season training — despite being made aware that he’ll play no part in Ruben Amorim’s squad after the summer.

Rashford, along with his agents, are now floundering to find a suitor willing to take him on board before 2025/2026 gets underway next month.

According to transfer expert [David Ornstein](https://x.com/david_ornstein/status/1939982325325902146?s=61), the forward has his heart set on a move abroad for the first-ever time in his career, having only ever represented United and, for a brief spell in the second half of last season, Aston Villa.

Reports throughout the window have suggested Barcelona would be something of a dream move for Rashford, and talks have taken place between Sporting Director Deco and the player’s brother/agent. However, their precarious financial situation and recent pursuit of first-choice attacking target Nico Williams has forced the La Liga champions to put their Rashford interest on the back burner.

Ornstein adds that Rashford is _‘open to leaving on loan or as part of a swap deal’_ to ensure he seals a suitable move away this summer, although neither option overly bodes in United’s favour, as they are keen on offloading him permanently and recuperating around £40 million of pure profit through his sale.

Rashford generally impressed during temporary Villa Park stint

After his notorious fallout with Ruben Amorim last December, Rashford embarked on a new venture with Villa in January and proceeded to oversee a revitalised run of form; Unai Emery singled him out for praise following his ‘fantastic’ and spirited display in the side’s triumphant Champions League victory over eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-final second leg.

In the 17 games he played for the Midlands outfit across all competitions, he returned four goals and six assists.
