Liverpool transfer wobbling over €20m difference and wages – Reds may find buyer walks away

On Monday, Corriere dello Sport reported Napoli will take 48 hours to make a final decision about their move for Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez.

The newspaper stated the Reds have been adamant on their €60m asking price for the Uruguayan and this was causing problems for the Italian champions.

Corriere dello Sport report today that there is a major gap in valuation between the two clubs. Even if Napoli have been in constant contact with the Liverpool striker’s agent Fali Ramadani, nothing has moved in the right direction.

As a result, Antonio Conte’s side are considering working on other moves and made fresh contact for Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca yesterday.

They were informed that the Italy international costs €40m including bonuses. There is a gap of €20m between Nunez’s valuation and Lucca’s valuation and this can make all the difference for Napoli.

From his end, Nunez is pushing for a move to Naples and has given a total openness to the transfer, but personal terms have not been agreed between the two parties because the 26-year-old wants a wage of €6m after-tax per season.

Napoli are not keen on paying that and the newspaper believe that if there is no agreement over wages, there is unlikely to be an agreement with Liverpool in the future.

As a result, the move can be dead in the water soon and the Azzurri will look at other targets.
