Everton are hoping to close a deal for the Villarreal striker Thierno Barry.

David Moyes will now be hoping to see the Friedkins open their wallets and bring in some new faces to bolster the squad.

This summer, Everton are prioritising a new striker signing with departures hitting the Toffees hard at the end of last month.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has now left Everton after his contract concluded at the end of June.

Everton have not exactly made an electric start to the summer transfer market as they have waited for the new PSR window to open.

However, Everton are looking to sign Barry from Villarreal after positive talks have taken place over a potential move.

Thierno Barry shares cryptic post amid Everton talks

Villarreal are open to Everton paying Barry in instalments, with the two clubs in active negotiations to complete a deal.

The Frenchman will now be able to secure a move to Everton after his U21 Euros journey has come to an end.

With speculation surrounding his future, Barry has now shared a cryptic post on his Instagram account.

The Villarreal striker shared an image of the check-in desk for an Air France flight as his future remains up in the air.

It is likely the youngster will now be departing to enjoy his summer break having represented his nation at the youth tournament.

Barry quickly deleted the post.

He will certainly not be flying directly into Liverpool, with no Air France flight scheduled to land on Merseyside.

Barry is open to joining Everton this summer, despite Villarreal being able to offer him Champions League football.

With Everton’s pre-season starting up in the coming days, Moyes will be keen to get new signings through the door sooner rather than later.

Everton’s striker options left bare

Coming into the summer, a new striker was at the top of the agenda for Everton as they prepared for summer exits.

Armando Broja returned to Chelsea after his loan, and Calvert-Lewin has now departed as a free agent.

That has left Moyes with Beto and Youssef Chermiti as his options up top.

Beto impressed Moyes at Everton after replacing an injured Calvert-Lewin back in January, but the 62-year-old will want more options to be added.

Adding a player like Barry will certainly provide an intriguing situation at Finch Farm, with the starting spot up front there to be earned this summer.
