Manchester United are upping their pursuit for a midfielder this summer as Ruben Amorim gets ready to start his pre-season training.
The Red Devils have now lost Christian Eriksen from their ranks as the veteran midfielder’s contract came to an end.
Despite Eriksen’s departure, United still have Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, Casemiro, Toby Collyer and Sekou Kone in the central midfield roles, with Bruno Fernandes also able to sit deeper in the middle of the park.
However, this isn’t stopping The Red Devils from looking to another midfielder, especially with Casemiro unable to routinely provide the intensity Amorim is looking for, and the Portuguese manager yet to find a consistent place for Mainoo in his system.
As such, players like Bayern Munich’s Joao Palhinha, Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha and Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi have all been linked to United’s midfield shortlist.
However, a new, slightly left field link, comes with PSG’s Fabian Ruiz.

Foot Mercato has reported that Untied are “going all out” for the Spanish midfielder.
Ruiz has had a truly magnificent season, helping PSG to win Ligue 1, Coupe de France, the Trophee des Champions, and the Champions League.
Further to this, the French club are also still in the Club World Cup, having recently beaten Inter Miami in the Round of 16.
Across the season, Ruiz has made 58 appearances, scoring six goals and grabbing 11 assists from the heart of midfield.
As such, it’s no real surprise that the 29-year-old is getting significant interest for potential suitors, or that PSG are keen to retain their star man.
However, a move for Fabian Ruiz would go completely against United’s recruitment profile, who until now have been pursuing proven Premier League stars who are 26 years old or under, to have an instant impact with low risk of adapting to the Premier League.
