Elliott on Newcastle’s Radar Amid Transfer Frustrations

Newcastle Utd are turning their attention to Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott. This comes after hitting roadblocks in their chase for a attacker this summer.

Eddie Howe’s side were showing interest in Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and Brighton’s Joao Pedro. But, they backed out due to high price tags, especially the £60m fee for Pedro.

Now, the Magpies are still in need fresh attacking options. Elliott has climbed high on their wishlist. The 21-year-old is reportedly open to a move. He has fallen down the pecking order under new Reds’ boss Arne Slot.

Newcastle have been monitoring the youngster for a while now. They kept an eye on him even before his standout displays for England at the U21 European Championship this summer. He has a desire for more regular first-team action. Liverpool are possibly open to selling him as well. Given that, the timing could be right for Howe’s side to make their move.

Price Tag Set as Competition Builds for Young Star

Reports suggest Newcastle are now preparing to step up their interest in Elliott, but they won’t be alone. Plenty of PL clubs are also keeping an eye on the situation.

Meanwhile, German side RB Leipzig are exploring a move. Reportedly, they are encouraged by former Reds boss Jurgen Klopp. It’s reported that Liverpool want around £50m for Elliott. Although, any bid above £40m will surely signal the club is serious about moving forward.

Harvey started his career at Fulham, has not settled down fully within Liverpool. Despite not having regular game time he certainly still has a lot of potential. And if he were to join St James’ Park he could find the football he has been needing.

For Newcastle, signing Elliot would be a good deal after a slow start to the transfer window. It would add a young, hungry and dynamic player to Howe’s squad who could bring some much needed creativity.
