Manchester United rank second in the world in club rankings

Manchester United’s presence at the top of global football has long been reflected in shirt sales, TV viewership and global fanbase numbers.

Under the joint leadership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, the club’s commercial power continues to grow, despite inconsistency on the pitch and their major cost cutting measures.

With Ruben Amorim overseeing a summer rebuild, United are aiming to restore their dominance both domestically and in Europe.

But while United’s on-field future is being reshaped, their financial firepower remains almost unmatched, confirming their place as one of football’s true juggernauts.

According to CNBC Sport’s newly released rankings for 2025, Manchester United have been named the second most valuable football club in the world.

Only Real Madrid rank higher, with the Spanish giants topping the global list at a staggering $6.7 billion, narrowly beating United’s $6 billion valuation.

Barcelona come in third at $5.65 billion, followed by Liverpool ($5.4bn) and Manchester City ($5.2bn), with Bayern Munich ($5.1bn) completing the top six.

The valuation metrics from CNBC include a combination of 2024 revenue, EBITDA, and current debt carried by each club.

For United, the results highlight not just the scale of their commercial brand, but also the club’s ability to sustain global marketability in spite of limited silverware in recent years.

It also underlines the Premier League’s growing commercial dominance, with 11 clubs from the English top flight featuring in the top 25 list globally.

All of the Premier League’s ‘big six’ make the top 10, with Arsenal ($4bn), Tottenham Hotspur ($3.55bn), and Chelsea ($3.5bn) also included.

United’s $6 billion valuation reaffirms their position as English football’s biggest financial powerhouse, a reality that bodes well as the INEOS era gathers momentum.

While Real Madrid might sit top of the most valuable football club for now, the Red Devils remain firmly in the global elite — and with new leadership and a clear vision under Amorim, the gap could begin to close on and off the pitch.
