EXCLUSIVE: Saha Predicts“Key Role”For Man United Ace Who Has“The Same Talent”As Garnacho But With A Better Attitude

Ex-Man United striker Louis Saha is expecting Amad Diallo to play a “key role” under head coach Ruben Amorim next season.

The Ivorian international was one of the few standout performers in a difficult campaign for the Red Devils and, speaking exclusively to Man U News (courtesy of Coin Poker), Saha was very complimentary about the player’s impact on the team:

“Last season, Amad proved any of his doubters wrong. He showed everyone that he has the ability to perform consistently and make important contributions at decisive moments.

“You can see how good he is by how much he was missed when he was injured. United just don’t look the same without him, and when he came back he transformed things once again. He has an enormous talent, and I love his mentality. He plays for the club, he gives everything for the badge.”

Saha says Amad’s attitude is in stark contrast to one of his teammates, who is set to leave Old Trafford this summer:

“It’s the type of player I love, and he deserves to be supported. Alejandro Garnacho has the same talent, but it’s Amad who actually understands the game, and has committed to developing as a player. Amad isn’t making demands, and he isn’t complaining about getting his chances. He’s looking at the older players around him and learning from them; when to try certain things, when to be safe.”

“The problem for United is that they’ve stopped this kind of development. He was overshadowed by Antony and Erik ten Hag didn’t give him a chance, but still he didn’t complain. He is going to be recognised next year, and he deserves respect. He shouldn’t be given guarantees, but we can appreciate him more. I’m really looking forward to seeing him playing a key role for Manchester United next season.”

Where will Amad play?

With United seemingly determined to secure the services of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, the 22-year-old’s favoured role on the right flank may not be available.

However, many believe that Amad also has the capabilities to be deployed as a wing-back. Last season, he started 10 times in that position, scoring 4 goals and providing 4 assists. He is a greater threat in the final third than either Diogo Dalot or Noussair Mazraoui.

What is the latest on Garnacho’s future at Man United?

It was clear after the defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final that the 20-year-old was keen on moving teams but, so far, no bids have been received for the player.

Chelsea were heavily linked with signing Garnacho but they have opted to buy Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund instead. Napoli have also been touted as a potential suitor. However, they are unlikely to match the forward’s £70m asking price.
