Arsenal are preparing for a major revamp of their attacking options this summer, withThe Athletic’s David Ornstein reporting that Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze has emerged as a top target for the Gunners.
In a significant development, Ornstein revealed that Arsenal’s pursuit of the England international is not tied to their ongoing search for a new striker or left winger. Instead, the club views Eze as a separate addition to their squad, highlighting an aggressive strategy to strengthen ahead of a Premier League title challenge and Champions League campaign.
Eze, who turned 27 on Sunday, enjoyed a stellar 2024/25 season with Crystal Palace, scoring nine goals in the final 13 league games and netting the winner in the FA Cup final against Manchester City. He also opened his international account for England in March, scoring against Latvia. His creativity, flair, and versatility have made him one of the most sought-after attacking players in the Premier League.

While Arsenal are yet to open formal talks with Palace, Eze is described as a “serious candidate” by Ornstein, with the Gunners hoping to negotiate a deal below his £60 million release clause. That figure could rise to £68 million with add-ons, and Arsenal are reportedly exploring a structured payment plan of three installments, £20 million each plus bonuses.

What makes Arsenal’s interest in Eze particularly intriguing is that it comes alongside their continued push for a new striker and left winger. The Gunners have been heavily linked with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres as centre-forward options, while Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon have been discussed in connection with the left flank. This opens up the possibility that Arsenal could complete up to three major attacking signings this window.

Eze’s ability to operate across various positions, No. 10, either wing, or as a central midfielder fits perfectly with Mikel Arteta’s tactical demands. A former Arsenal academy player who was released at the age of 13, Eze has since developed into a dynamic playmaker, ranking among the Premier League’s best for completed take-ons and contributing significantly in defensive transitions.
Though Tottenham Hotspur have previously shown interest, Ornstein notes that Spurs are not actively pursuing Eze this summer, potentially clearing the way for Arsenal to move ahead. However, other clubs including Manchester City, Chelsea, and Newcastle have been long-term admirers and could yet enter the race.
Crystal Palace are determined to keep their talisman, especially given his pivotal role under manager Oliver Glasner. But should Arsenal formalise their interest, they may have to meet the club’s valuation or offer a package compelling enough to convince Palace to sell.
Arsenal’s interest in Eberechi Eze underlines the club’s ambitious recruitment drive, as they seek to add creativity, depth, and flexibility to a squad aiming to go one better in the Premier League and make a deeper run in Europe.
