Bayern Munich can afford Marcus Rashford deal after £42m cash injection, it matches Man United's asking price

Manchester United continue to search for a buyer for Marcus Rashford and Bayern Munich have emerged as a new option.

There is just one week left until Manchester United begin pre-season training and Marcus Rashford is set to return to Carrington after spending the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa.

However, it still feels as though his days at the club are numbered with an exit likely this summer.

Rashford’s ‘dream’ is to join Barcelona, but the Spanish side are progressing a deal for Nico Williams and Ineos would rather sell the 27-year-old permanently rather than agree to another loan.

A move to Germany, however, could be on the cards.

Bayern Munich interested in Marcus Rashford deal

If Marcus Rashford prefers a move abroad to go and challenge for titles, Barcelona is certainly not his only option.

According to German outlet Bild, Bayern Munich are showing interest in buying Rashford this summer as an ideal left-wing option.

The report claims that United are demanding around €45 million (£38.6m) for Rashford, which is around the same as the £40m buy option offered to Aston Villa this summer.

Rashford is part of Bayern’s “longlist” of targets which also includes Nico Williams, Rafael Leao and Luis Diaz.

While Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl has insisted the club must “save” financially this summer, Rashford is viewed as an ideal target.

Bayern Munich pocket £42m injection to fund Marcus Rashford deal

While Barcelona prefer a loan deal for Rashford, Bayern have enough cash to make a permanent move for the forward.

That is because Bayern have reached the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup this summer and their progress so far has already earned them enough to outright buy Rashford.

As per The Athletic, Bayern have earned more money through their Club World Cup participation than any other team so far with $58 million (£42m) earned already.

They still have the chance to grow that figure further with a quarter-final clash against Champions League winners PSG on the horizon.

Bayern could theoretically spend their Club World Cup winnings on a deal for Rashford this summer, meaning the United academy graduate could be playing alongside Harry Kane next season.
