Nygaard Quotes on Arsenal Preference
When Lucas was asked about Arsenal and Other clubs interested in him he said, “Monaco were really interested and Juventus were really interested. PSG and Arsenal were also very interested, Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the world and they have a really good project going… I could see myself in it, so that’s why I chose them. I trained at PSG… But they don’t really speak English. I took the experience, but Arsenal felt right.”
Also, he has talked about Arteta and Arsenal project – “I’m a modern goalkeeper who likes to play with my feet… I’ve chosen Arsenal because I could see they like to play out from the back and that feels really good. I played for FC Nordsjaelland. They also like the goalkeeper to play a lot, so they did a great job developing me“. When asked about his experience with Arsenal team he replied, “It was great to train with them…I want more. It gives a greater drive… so I train even harder to get those experiences.”…….“My dad simply told me… Arsenal were coming to watch one of my games… I quickly fell in love with Arsenal during my trial.”
Why Arsenal won the Nygaard Race?
Mikel Arteta and Arsenal have successfully created an attractive project for Youngsters. Also, Arteta has been rotating his players and giving game time to youngsters. Nygaard is a Goalkeeper and he feels comfortable about the culture at Arsenal, language barrier at psg also made Gunners complete the deal. However, he also expects a clear and good pathway to the first team that may be possible only at Arsenal.
Arteta : Goalkeeper Stance
Arteta has always clearly said how important every player, and the bench is for winning titles. He has always mentioned about Goalkeepers and their contribution in build up. “I won’t be afraid to change my goalkeepers during matches… David has tremendous qualities like Aaron… we have to use them…it is like this.”…….“It’s not a gamble, it’s a necessity… the difference between tier‑one and what you call ‘tier‑two players’ is too big… When you see the other squads, where they have two very good goalkeepers… we want to do it in our own way.” Arteta mentions that goalkeepers should be rotated and managed tactically, just like any other position—reflecting his modern, dynamic approach.
Mikel Artea feels Lucas Nygaard is a perfect player for their team. Although, He is still very young he is very good on the ball. The Gunners feel that he will be part of the success of the club for a long time in future.
Author’s Opinion
Lucas Nygaard’s decision of joining Arsenal was a big moment for him in his career. Despite having offers from Psg and Juventus he decided to join the Gunners. This tells us directly about his future plans and career ambitions.
This move is good for both, the club and the player. The club will get a top talented young player for future and present. Also, the player will get experience of playing at a top club. His presence at Arsenal under Arteta and top Goalkeeping coaches will improve him as a player. In addition to this, A top club provides attention and appreciation to the players. This helps a lot in development and nurturing young players.
However, It would be interesting to see how Arteta is able to integrate Nygaard in the first team. Will Nygaard be the future starting goalkeeper for Arsenal? Will he move to other club if a attractive offer comes? Can he reach his top potential at Arsenal?
