It's hard to find an NBA roster with former Duke players on it, with twenty-seven alumni in the league after having five drafted this year. Tyus Jones, whose 7.35 assist-to-turnover ratio in the 2023-24 season is the highest single-season mark in NBA history, signed on Monday with the Magic, giving Orlando three Blue Devils on the roster heading in to next year along with Paolo Banchero and Wendell Carter.
Jones played last year with the Suns, appearing in 81 games (58 starts) for Phoenix after inking a one-year contract. He was expected to earn a solid pay day after a one-year stint in Washington the previous season, but opted for a discounted one-year deal in Phoenix for a chance at the playoffs. Jones averaged 10.2 points per game on 44.8% shooting and 41.4% from long range with the Suns, adding 2.4 rebounds and 5.3 assists across 26.8 minutes per game.
The tenth-year guard has played for the Minnesota Timberwolves for four years and the Memphis Grizzlies for three, before taking one-year deals with the Washington Wizards, and Suns. Jones will join Desmond Bane in a reshaped Magic backcourt that also includes fourth-year guard Jalen Suggs.
