Aston Villa 'in contact' with former Premier League winger who wants transfer

Winger Ademola Lookman has reportedly told his club Atalanta that he wishes to make a return to the Premier League this summer - and Aston Villa have been listed as one of the clubs who are supposedly 'in contact' with the player's representatives.

Lookman, who scored a hat-trick in Atalanta's final win over Bayer Leverkusen in Dublin last year, is reportedly keen to leave Bergamo after three years in Serie A, having previously been with RB Leipzig in Germany - he has, though, been back in England since leaving Everton permanently in 2019 - with Fulham and Leicester on loan.

The 27-year-old, who has two more years remaining on his current Atalanta deal, is rated by Transfermarkt as being valued at almost £60m, but Villa aren't the in bringing Lookman back to the top flight on a permanent basis.

Arsenal's new sporting director Andrea Berta is said to have been in regular touch with Lookman's camp this summer, as the Gunners prepare to accelerate their own transfer plans - they're set to sign Christian Norgaard from Brentford but have also prioritised a centre forward.

Lookman would be considered an upgrade in the wide areas, although Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur - both of whom are also in the Champions League next season - have also been credited with an interest in the Charlton Athletic academy product.
