ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Eagles secondary will look much different when the season begins after safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was traded to the Houston Texans. Rookie Andrew Mukuba has a chance to be a contributor in the Eagles secondary, and his skill set should help fill the void. Early on, his teammates have seen that he has been able to hold his own on the field, and it could lead to considerable playing time at a position that can be difficult to learn in defensive coordinator Vic Fangio’s scheme.
During his celebrity softball game that raised money for Lehigh Valley-based St. Luke’s Hospital and Lehigh Valley IronPigs charities, wide receiver DeVonta Smith was asked which rookie stood out to him so far. Smith said he was impressed watching how Mukuba had been playing since he joined the team.
