Fantasy Football Owners Eye Buccaneers' Chris Godwin for 2025

The NFL season is just 68 days away for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and that means your fantasy football league is probably ramping up too.

One of the names on your big board at WR could be Bucs pass catcher Chris Godwin. Jr., who, of course, is coming off a gruesome dislocated ankle injury in Week 7 in a loss against the Baltimore Ravens.

Godwin was leading the league in catches, yards and touchdown receptions before he went down, which will put him on the map of fantasy football owners in every league.

The Penn State product is working feverishly toward a Week 1 comeback in 2025 when the Bucs head to Atlanta to take on the Falcons on Sept. 7

CBS Sports' Jamey Eisenberg looked back at Godwin's 2024 and how his injury could affect his usage in 2025.

“When Godwin injured his ankle for the season in Week 7 against Baltimore, we were all robbed of him finishing off a career year. He was on pace for 121 catches, 1,399 yards and 12 touchdowns, and he was averaging 19.7 PPR points per game. Only Ja'Marr Chase (23.7) was better than Godwin last year. Tampa Bay drafted Emeka Egbuka in the first round and still features Jalen McMillan as part of a deep wide receiver corps. Still, Godwin remains one of the most trusted and productive pass-catchers on the roster when healthy. Fantasy owners should keep a close eye on his training camp progress. If he’s ready to go, he could outperform his draft slot by a wide margin."
