Bayern Munich are considering handing Marcus Rashford an escape route from Manchester United.
The German giants have emerged as shock contenders to sign United outcast Rashford, who is not part of Ruben Amorim's future plans at Old Trafford.
Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, after falling out of favour with Amorim when the United boss questioned Rashford's lack of focus and poor attitude in training.
Villa had the option of signing Rashford in a permanent deal for £40m, but have been put off by the forward's £300,000-a-week wages. And while Rashford has been holding out for a dream move to Barcelona, the Spanish giants have cooled their interest in the 27-year-old.
It has left Rashford facing an awkward return to United next week to start pre-season training. But according to reports in Germany, Bayern boss Vincent Kompany is keen on making a move for the England international.

Bayern are said to have been impressed by Rashford's return to form at Villa, where he scored four goals and provided six assists before his season was ended by injury.
Kompany is keen to bolster his attack this summer and Rashford is said to be on his radar - which could see him link up with England captain and team-mate Harry Kane.
Rashford's wages are the biggest obstacle to him securing a permanent move from United this summer, and if he is unwilling to accept a wage cut to do so, Rashford will have little choice but to go out on loan again next season.

Rashford has previously spoken of his admiration for Kane. He said: “His finishing is second to none. If you want someone to rely on - to get you goals - he is the man for the job. If there is a game where you only get one chance, you know that if it falls to him it is more likely to be a goal.
“It breeds confidence throughout the team. He has done that terrifically when you speak about being a leader. To lead by example is the best way and he has been very good for England.”
