Rangers are closing in on the signing of Conor Coady - a year after Philippe Clement almost landed him.
The Light Blues are expected to get the go-ahead from Leicester City over the next 24 to 48 hours to sign the former England international.
Rangers are ready to offer the 32-year-old a long term deal to get him to Ibrox - with Joe Rothwell also set to move to Ibrox from Bournemouth to make it a double signing.
Coady had previously worked with Rangers’ sporting director Kevin Thelwell and that was believed to have been the catalyst for the deal.
Record Sport , however, can reveal that Coady has been on the Rangers' radar for more than a year. The Light Blues almost signed the big central defender last season.
Clement and former transfer chief Nils Koppen were close to agreeing a season-loan deal with Leicester City last summer.

Coady had been deemed surplus to requirements by Enzo Maresca after the Foxes promotion back to the English Premier League.
That opened the door for Rangers and was when Clement made his move. The deal was on the verge of happening and talks had taken place before Maresca left for Chelsea.

New Leicester City boss Steve Cooper then came in and insisted Coady was going to be a big part of his plans.
The season didn’t go to plan as Cooper was quickly sacked and the Midlands club ended up getting relegated.
Rangers then made a move for Dutch defender Robin Propper from FC Twente.
Coady, however, looks like he will get his move to Rangers at the second time of asking!
Now Russell Martin looks set to land him after his predecessor, Clement, missed out.
