Agent of Leeds United man calls for transfer 'solution' amid brutal Elland Road reality

The writing looks on the wall for Isaac Schmidt at Leeds United. The defender has struggled to force his way into Daniel Farke's plans since joining from Swiss club St Gallen on deadline day of the 2024 summer transfer window.

Schmidt, who cost in the region of €3m, is considering his Whites future, having grown frustrated at a lack of first team involvement. The 25-year-old played just 71 minutes across 12 Championship matches last term. His two starts came in their FA Cup ties at home to Harrogate Town and Millwall.

Baykal Bellusci, Schmidt’s agent, has suggested his client is open to leaving Elland Road in pursuit of regular game time as he looks to earn a place in the Switzerland squad for the 2026 World Cup. Schmidt has played three times for Switzerland, starting friendlies against USA and Northern Ireland earlier this year.

In an interview with Swiss newspaper Blick, Bellusci said: “Isaac played as a left-back for a long time, and we discussed with the club that there was a larger market for the right-back position. The decision to switch Isaac to the right led to the transfer and his call-up to the national team.

“He has developed, matured as a player, and proven himself with the national team. In a World Cup year, the top priority shouldn’t be to focus on finances. Instead, it’s all about one thing: Where can I play the most games to prove myself? I’m convinced we’ll find a very good solution for him this summer.”
