‘Here we go’… Fabrizio Romano says Brentford are about to complete £21m deal, potential domino for Bryan Mbeumo

Manchester United’s pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo has left many fans fed up after weeks of slow negotiating.

Almost one month after the first bid was submitted for the Brentford star, talks remain ongoing with an agreement still evading the club.

Last week Manchester United’s second bid for Bryan Mbeumo was rejected, worth £55m plus an additional £7.5m.

This week, in a clear statement to Ineos that they should complete the deal as soon as possible, Brentford’s director Phil Giles has said Mbeumo is happy to stay.

Despite this, Mbeumo is dreaming of a United move, and it still appears to be a matter of time until an agreement is found between all parties.

Now, a domino may have fallen which suggests this is close.

Brentford set to sign Antoni Milambo

There has been a gauntlet laid down by Brentford this week, for United to wrap up the Mbeumo signing.

Mbeumo to United is inching closer according to Fabrizio Romano on Monday, and now the transfer guru has claimed that Brentford are set to spend big this week on a new attacking midfielder.

Romano tweeted on Tuesday, claiming that Brentford have sealed the signing of Feyenoord talent Antoni Milambo.

The 20-year-old has already completed his medical and will join the Bees for £21.25m in total, which is a hefty fee that indicates that it could be Brentford pre-emptively spending their Mbeumo money.

Milambo will likely slot into Keith Andrews’ team as an attacking midfielder with his excellent ball-carrying and creativity from midfield.

While not a like-for-like replacement, it is assumed that Brentford already has Kevin Schade to replace Mbeumo this summer, so Milambo is potentially one of a few players who will arrive in place of Mbeumo.

Manchester United must not let Mbeumo pursuit go beyond this week

Signing Mbeumo would be seen as a massive coup by United, the kind of signing who can be a game-changer for the Red Devils’ fortunes.

Mbeumo has ‘ridiculous’ talent and Amorim will have been desperate to see him through the doors before pre-season begins.

However, United return to training on July 7th, which is now under one week away, making it a race against time.

United have been negotiating to avoid being ripped off, however, it gets to a point when the club has to pay if they want their man, considering the fee is basically at Brentford’s demands right now anyway.

For United, it is imperative not to let this saga drag into pre-season, they must do it this week and move on, there is no alternative.
