Josh Acheampong insists he is ignoring the speculation surrounding his future with the 19-year-old Cobham graduate saying he is concentrating only on starring for Chelsea.

Borussia Dortmund have been linked with Acheampong for £35million and so have clubs closer to home in Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Blues boss Enzo Maresca has said he would like Acheampong to stay, and the versatile teenager who can play anywhere across the back line has now added his own take on his summer.

‘I don't really look at it,’ Acheampong said of the speculation. ‘I don't pay attention to any of that. I just focus on my football. I don't really think about my future. I just want to win the next game and do as well as we can.

‘I think it's important to get the trust from the manager. Every time I play, I want to do as well as I can. Enzo's really good with the young lads. He's really approachable. If you've got any questions you want to ask him, he'll be there for you.’

Acheampong previously found himself frozen out of Chelsea's first team and Under 21s when he had an ongoing contract squabble.

He went on to sign a five-year deal and, alongside Tyrique George, he was permanently promoted to Maresca’s senior squad midway through last season. Asked how he handled that challenging time and what Maresca told him, Acheampong said: ‘Enzo said he thinks I’m a good player.

I love the club, so I always want to stay at Chelsea and just show what I can do. I wouldn't say I have a preferred position right now.

I don't really mind as long as I can play. I'm not too fussed. Just whatever Enzo wants from me, I'll try and do.’ Acheampong added he does not find being surrounded by superstars, such as Cole Palmer and a World Cup winner in Argentina’s Enzo Fernandez, daunting.

‘No, I'm not starstruck,’ he said. ‘I don't really look at them as big names. I just look at them as my team-mates. Everyone has been supportive. Say I'm playing against a big team, I don't really get intimidated by names. I just play my game. I don't think it really matters.’
