Viktor Gyokeres continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United. The forward has been widely tipped to leave Sporting this summer, with Old Trafford being mentioned as a potential destination for the Sweden international.
Arsenal and Liverpool have also been mentioned in various reports as having an interest in Gyokeres, with some suggestions that the Gunners may be the favourites. United are continuing to be linked with signing Gyokeres this summer, as they search for a new centre forward to be added to Ruben Amorim's squad.
Liam Delap was a target for United before the striker went on to complete a £30million move to Chelsea.
Now a fresh update has emerged about Gyokeres' future, with Portuguese news outlet A Bola reporting that a clause became activated today (July 1).
The report claims that if Sporting were to reject an offer worth €60million (£51.6million) or more, they would then be forced to pay 10% of that figure to Gyokeres' representatives.
With July 1 also marking the first day of the new financial year for many clubs across Europe, the date is also when this clause is reported to be now in effect.
It remains to be seen where Gyokeres will be playing his football next season. United have already been busy in the transfer market with the signing of Matheus Cunha in a £62.5million deal from Wolves.
United are also looking to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford but have seen two bids rejected for the Cameroon international. It's still uncertain if United will turn their attention to actively trying to sign Gyokeres before the September 1 deadline.
