Nottingham Forest will consider handing Morgan Gibbs-White a new contract if he stays at the club beyond the transfer window, GIVEMESPORT sources understand.
The Reds enjoyed a fantastic 2024/25 campaign under manager Nuno Espirito Santo, narrowly missing out on Champions League football due to a defeat to Chelsea on the final day of the Premier League season as they finished in 7th place.
The Tricky Trees will now prepare for a season in the Europa Conference League in 2025/26, and club chiefs are hopeful of keeping hold of their top stars amid big interest from the bigger clubs in the division.
Forest Consider New Deal for Gibbs-White
Current contract expires in 2027
Morgan Gibbs-White
Club captain Gibbs-White, who has been described as 'truly unplayable' for his performances during the last few seasons, was one of the players who attracted interest earlier in the transfer window.
Pep Guardiola's Manchester City side were seriously considering a move for the England international, before eventually opting to sign Rayan Cherki instead as they grew tired of waiting on a decision.
City seemed to be his most likely destination and with them out of the race, interest has cooled, but GMS sources understand that not all interest has gone although it is currently believed that there is a much stronger chance of him staying than leaving.
Morgan Gibbs-White's statistics for Nottingham Forest this season
Nottingham Forest are adamant they don't want to lose the 25-year-old playmaker this summer, and sources understand that the club will begin the process of handing him a new contract at the City Ground should he still be a Forest player once the transfer window closes.
His current deal is set to expire in 2027, but it's believed that new terms could become a realistic prospect in the new season should he begin the campaign as a key member of Nuno's squad once again.
Gibbs-White is known to be very keen on going to the World Cup as part of Thomas Tuchel's England squad next summer, and knows that regular game time could be a major factor, which would see him consider that for any move that may materialise.
Alongside Gibbs-White there is big interest from across the Premier League in winger Anthony Elanga, and club chiefs have already rejected a bid from Newcastle United for his services.
The Sweden international is valued at around £60m but the club do not want to sell him either as they prepare for a campaign with European football, with manager Espírito Santo looking to build after his great season and being handed a new long-term contract.
