Manchester United could welcome two former teammates to the club this summer based on some of the latest transfer reports.

United are continuing to push for a deal to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford this summer. Ruben Amorim's side have had two bids rejected for the Cameroon international by the Bees but are still determined to bring the forward to Old Trafford.

It's not just Mbeumo that could go on to sign for United this summer. Reports in recent days have linked United with signing Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins this summer, as they continue their search for a new centre forward.

Mbeumo and Watkins enjoyed an impressive partnership during their time at Brentford. While Mbeumo has remained at the Gtech Community Stadium, Watkins left the Bees to join Villa back in September 2020.

It was a few weeks before that move to Villa Park that Watkins received plenty of praise from Mbeumo, who was his teammate with Brentford at the time. Mbeumo was part of a forward line alongside Watkins and Said Benrahma, which earned the nickname 'BMW' and comparisons with Liverpool trio Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Mbeumo stated at the time why he compared Watkins with Salah.

Mbeumo told Sky Sports back in August 2020: "Said [Benrahma] would be Roberto Firmino, very attacking, a good finisher.

"I think it would be hard to say who is who among Mo Salah and Sadio Mane but I would probably be Mane and Ollie [Watkins] would be Salah."

Watkins has been heavily linked with a move away from Villa in recent weeks, with United the latest club to be mentioned as a potential destination. It remains to be seen what United will have planned for the rest of the summer transfer window, with the club having until September 1 to finalise deals for Mbeumo and Watkins.

However, should they eventually formalise interest in Watkins, it appears Mbeumo would approve of the move.
