The Charlotte Hornets are reportedly acquiring guard Pat Connaughton and two second round picks from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Vasilije Micic.

As Shams notes in the Tweet, the Hornets are getting the Bucks own second round picks in 2031 and 2032, and those could be pretty juicy (by second round standards) in a post-Giannis world.
We’re going to mark this as another trade where the Hornets get the better player in the deal while also acquiring future assets. Though in this case, Connaughton has fallen off since being a significant contributor to the Bucks Finals run.
I’d venture to guess that Connaughton isn’t the key get for the Hornets here. The trade saves the Bucks some money while they try to stomach waiving and stretching Damian Lillard and signing Myles Turner. They give the Hornets a couple of distant seconds for helping them out.
I have no idea what the plan is for Connaughton the player. The Hornets have a lot of redundant players on the roster right now. I don’t know when it’ll be executed, but there must be some sort of plan to reshuffle at some point.
